As culture moves toward a plethora of uncertain new standards, London based emerging alt pop artist Naomi Banks is doing something radically different by grounding her artistry in the truth of experience and sound. Her latest release is single: ‘Hearts’.
‘Hearts’ tells the story of a failed romance using poppy touches, jazz influences and an explosive hook capturing the emotional intensity of infatuation and showcasing her incredible musical ability.
Her rare flare for everything musical started with scholarships at two leading London music colleges - she later went on to work with a slew of musicians as a vocalist, including Laura Mvula, Lianne La Havas, ELO, Keane & more.
Making the decision to launch her solo career last year was most definitely realised in the release of singles: ‘Enough’ and ‘Daydream’.
They generated widespread online acclaim including support from Clash Magazine, Female First, London in Stereo, Women in Pop (and many more) culminating in single: ‘Enough’ being added to the BBC R1 playlist with plays from Scott Mills, Clara Amfo, Dev & Alice, Matt and Mollie and more.
Speaking on the story behind ‘Hearts’, Naomi Banks tells us:
‘It was inspired by someone I was dating last year; we both knew it was never going to work, but it was great anyway’.
As an artist, Naomi Banks blends heady electronica with a range of soul, jazz and pop. She draws influence from relationships and real life stories.
