LISSIE
ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM
‘CASTLES’
OUT 23RD MARCH 2018
A powerful combination of heartfelt introspection and contemporary dream-pop, Lissie’s fourth studio album Castles marks the return of a singular voice in the modern American scene.
To mark the announcement of the album, Lissie would like to share the haunting track and video Blood And Muscle (track available as an instant grat alongside the track Boyfriend with album pre-orders of Castles). Stripped back to one voice and its simple, yet poignant piano accompaniment, Blood And Muscle allows Lissie’s vocals to soar, as she summons the strength to “laugh at the dark.” Blood And Muscle serves as a perfect distillation of the spirit of self-determination that courses through all of Castles. No longer willing to stand back and cede her power to others, Lissie is unafraid to finally, and boldly state her dreams and desires: “I want a love that’s made of blood and muscle.”

Written predominantly from Lissie’s new home in northeast Iowa, Castles represents a spiritual, as well as musical development: it’s a portrait of an artist who has always been on the move, and is finally creating a sense of permanency; a chance to catch her breath and reflect.
Lissie’s three previous albums, Catching a Tiger (2010) Back to Forever (2013), and My Wild West (2015) all hit Top 20 in the UK charts, with her latest effort reaching #16. Most recently, Lissie was thrilled to appear in David Lynch’s revival of his landmark series Twin Peaks, joining artists as varied as Trent Reznor and Eddie Vedder and adding a touch of her characteristic sense of ethereal bliss to one of the great cultural legacies of 20th and 21st Century America. NME wrote of her “intense” appearance: “Closing the episode with the Stevie Nicks-esque ‘Wild West’, Rock Island’s most exciting troubadour more than earned her Lynch-commissioned screen time.”
After sold out performances at London’s Koko and an underplay show at Omeara in the past year, Lissie will return to the sought-after London Bridge venue in April 2018 for a special intimate gig, which will be followed by larger shows in the UK. Keep an eye out for more tour dates, and join us for the next stage in Lissie’s journey.
